Big Triumph Ride In (Aug 19)
A run to the National Motorcycle Museum, Coventry.
Bevans of Cardiff are organising a National Run to the NEC, Motorcycle museum and it is hoped that up to 500 Triumph motorcycles and riders will attend. We are combining this event with a run to the National Arboretum on the Saturday. Nearer the date we will send you the meeting point near the NEC Motorcycle Museum where we will meet up, before heading into the Museum. You will have time to look around all the stunning bikes before riding as a group home via the A5/A41/A55.
We now have the meeting point for the event from Bevans.
Details of Rendezvous Point: I have sought and been granted permission to use the car park of the Heart of England Social Club, Berkswell Road, Meriden CV7 7LB (HQ for the Meriden Branch of the TOMCC).
Overspill parking in Meriden has been arranged in the car park to the rear of the nearby Manor Hotel, 127 Main Road, Meriden CV7 7NH.
R.V. Point Timings:
We will meet at the Primary RV Point from 10.30 a.m. and depart for the Museum at 11.30 a.m. If this car park is full when you arrive, please use the overspill car park behind the nearby Manor Hotel. The bikes from the Primary RV will leave first for the Museum and then those from the Overspill parking will join onto the back of the procession (you can see the junction of Berkswell Lane and Main Road from the Manor Hotel front car park - members of the Bevan RAT Pack will marshal the car parks to help this run smoothly).
Arrival at the National Motorcycle Museum:
We will route through Meriden and join the westbound carriageway of the A45 for the 4-mile ride to the Museum, where we should start to arrive at about 11.45 a.m. The entrance into the Motorcycle Museum car park is the first turning off the roundabout at the intersection of the A45 with the M42, and it is important that Pack Leaders brief all riders to follow marshal’s directions and ride directly into the ample parking area that has been reserved specially for us. Any delay at the car park entrance will cause a serious back up of traffic out on the approach road to the M42. If you have a Pack Flag, please set it up on your stationary bike in the car park.
There is a cafe on site and this will be open for hot lunches between midday and 2.30 p.m. additionally, there will be a barbecue available adjacent to the parking area.
Normal price entry to the museum is £8.95 per adult, but the museum will offer us a concessionary rate of £6.95 per person for all Triumph riders.
The museum has kindly donated a prize of a golfing weekend at their nearby Windmill Village Golf Hotel (details still to be confirmed) and Triumph Motorcycles has kindly pledged a pair of free Triumph LIVE weekends (worth close to £150) with free access to all activities, plus free camping. You need to be there to stand a chance of winning these!
Accommodation:
If any members are tempted to make a weekend of it, The Manor Hotel at Meriden would be happy to offer room rates of £50 for single/double/twin rooms. This is reduced from a room only rate of £180 for regular bookings. These rates are inclusive of VAT and parking, breakfast can be added at a rate of £10 per person for a full English breakfast. The hotel facilities will be open for guests' use and will be able to offer drinks, food and snacks as appropriate. To facilitate this, the hotel will place a rate code in their booking system that mirrors the above rates. If potential guests quote the ride to the national motorcycle museum and the date, the Reservations Co-ordinator will be happy to book rooms at these reduced rates.
