Scottish Weekend (Aug 26-29 2011)

This is an event that I am offering the Northern Rat Pack ( previously Durham Rats) for a long weekend in August. Maybe some of your people may be interested ...

The “Bonniest bits of Scotland” Raid

Or...”Bash the Midge 2011”

Friday 26th to Monday 29th August 2011

This is a late summer Bank Holiday weekend away to some of the “bonniest” bits of Scotland. Not the majestic, dramatic peaks of the Western Highlands, but the gentler beauty of the Kyles of Bute, Loch Lomond, The Trossachs and Balmoral. Only the “Spittal of Glenshee” gives a nod to the wilderness of Scotland.

We will be using the excellent and (if booked early) relatively cheap Premier Inns for our 3 overnight stays. It works out something like this…….

FRIDAY: Ride up with the pack leader during the day or independently if you have other commitments. From the North-East it’s a 180 mile 3.5 hr trip to the hotel south of Loch Lomond.

SATURDAY: Following a substantial (all you can eat) breakfast we go on a fantastic 135 mile round trip taking in the shores of Loch Lomond, Inveraray, the Kyles of Bute, a couple of ferry rides….brilliant roads and brilliant scenery.

SUNDAY: Another breakfast feast then we have all day to cover the 180 miles to Aberdeen via The Trossachs, Aberfeldy, the fast & dramatic Spittal of Glenshee, Braemar and Balmoral. This is a really great route that can be taken at a leisurely pace, or not.

Route guides will be provided so you can push on if you want, or hang back and take in the scenery if that’s more your thing.

The cost? It’s about £145 pp sharing a twin or double room for 3 night’s dinner, bed and breakfast. B&B only is also available.

You've got 'till the end of January to decide....I have 3 bikes signed up already.
