West to East via Middle (Jun 2-5)
A long distance event from Fort William in the West to Lowestoft in the East, via Meridian in the middle. Approximately 750 miles of excellent roads over two days over the Bank Holiday. Remember this date is for the Queens Anniversary on the throne, so an extra day has been granted.
This event has not been previously run by RAT, so between Alan Burns (Kent), Bill Deacon and Anthony Lovell (WOODS) (over a beer) we decide to that this event needed to be run and offer it out to all the RAT packs.
The event will start at Fort William below the summit of Ben Nevis on June the 2nd, where we meet up at the Cruachan hotel before travelling next day West, to Ardnamurchan Point, the furthest point West on the UK mainland, before heading back towards England, along Scotland’s finest roads and then spending the night just South of Carlisle. Next day we head South towards Meriden, and Middle England before heading East to Lowestoft and the furthest point East. Here we spend the night at a premier inn before you make your way home the next day. The route will be approximately 750 miles or thereabouts.320 miles day one and 430 miles day 2, approximately.
Total costs for the event will be £150 per person. This will cover Bed & Breakfast at the Cruachan hotel, Bed at the Premier Inns in Carlisle and Lowestoft(less breakfast). If you require breakfast (bookable on arrival). Cost £7.99 per person (all you can eat). If you wish to book your own accommodation locally please feel free to do so. No evening meals are incl. Accommodation will be on a ‘shared room bases, twin rooms, to keep the cost down. We have vacancies for 17 persons.
